Enable Dynamic Surcharging with Tyro

Tyro’s dynamic surcharging allows the Merchant to pass the EFTPOS transaction fee onto the customer. This is calculated quickly and automatically, allowing for a frictionless experience at the POS.

The Surcharging Framework was introduced in 2017 by the Reserve Bank of Australia, and Tyro has developed this feature into their devices so that it can dynamically adjust for different cards and banks.

This feature can be enabled easily through the Tyro Merchant Portal, which provides updated information on all the latest rates.

How can I enable surcharging?

Tyro surcharges are displayed on the POS and within your Sales Feed so that customers can be provided with an accurate sales receipt. However, these surcharge values are not considered revenue and are not included in your reconciliation data.

Surcharge amounts will land in the merchant's Tyro bank account, which can be linked to Xero. Learn more about dynamic surcharging on Tyro's website
