How to integrate Commbank Albert with Lightspeed POS

 

CommBank and Lightspeed  have partnered to create a native integration between the CBA Albert and Lightspeed  POS to process EFTPOS payments across all platforms (iOS, Android, Windows and, Mac).

Before you begin

Setting up the integration to take EFTPOS payments is easy - you will want to have your Lightspeed  account set up and the Albert EFTPOS terminal(s) on site before attempting to integrate them and getting them talking. You will also need;

  • Your POS terminal on hand and the Lightspeed App installed - If you need any help with installing the Lightspeed POS App, check out this guide
  • The Lightspeed POS App installed on your Albert device. Note: you will need your Commbank Albert login to download the app from the App Bank to the Albert device. 
  • Stable internet connection

 


Enable the CBA Albert Integration 

1. From the Integrations page in Lightspeed Back Office, find the Albert add-on and click on it to go to the integrations settings page

2. Enable the integration by clicking on the blue Enable button

3. From Back Office, select 'My Site' or 'Sites'(If you have multiple sites, select the site you'd like to integrate Albert with). Then select Displays under Devices.

4. Select New Customer Display.

5. Enter a name for your Albert - I generally go with something exciting like "Albert" then hit create

Your Display has now been created. Next we'll need to assign your register/s to Albert

Note: Albert can integrate to multiple POS registers, to integrate Albert to multiple registers follow the steps below

6. To assign a register to Albert, click on the space below the 'Assigned Registers' section

7. Click on the 'Update Assigned Registers' field

8. Select the devices that will be sending payments to your Albert terminal

The 'Assigned Registers' section will then display the POS devices you've selected underneath it. Next, we'll need to assign your Lightspeed Display to your Albert.

Assigning your Albert display profile to your Albert device. 

Note: You'll need to make sure the Lightspeed  app has been installed on your Albert terminal before proceeding. You can install the Lightspeed  app via the App Bank on the Albert terminal. The install takes around 15 minutes to complete. 

 

1. Once you've installed the Lightspeed App on Albert, open the Lightspeed app and then Login to Back Office

2. Select POS in the top right hand corner of Back Office. 
3. When you first log into Albert, you will need to select the 'Albert' Display profile that we previously created in the Back Office

4. Confirm that you are using this Albert as an EFTPOS only device by clicking on the orange Select button on the Albert screen

5. If you haven't assigned a POS to the device yet as described in steps 6 in the section above, after selecting the Albert display you'll then be prompted to select a register to assign your Albert to. If you have already assigned a register in Back Office, you will bypass this step.

9. If the pairing is successful, you'll then see a Lightspeed logo displayed on your Albert terminal. 

Pro Tip -If you want to have your company logo on this screen, simply upload a logo on the Site information page in Lightspeed back office. Our guide on uploading a logo will walk you through the steps.

For a quick reference - all you need to do is click on the CBA Albert logo from the Checkout panel

Pro Tip -If you are changing any register settings, don't forget to update you POS with a quick Sync.

  

 


Frequently Asked Questions 

 

How does my Albert terminal talk to Lightspeed?

Each Albert terminal will be logged into the Lightspeed POS. It will communicate to the Lightspeed  POS via the internet connection that each device has. Alberts can connect to the internet either via the backup 3G network or via your in-store wifi (whichever is best)

The Albert terminal will talk to the banks through its own internet connection.

  

How do I report on Sales by Payment Type?

Payments Dashboards on Lightspeed Insights allows you to easily report on the payment types used in your business, see payment trends, and see which payment types are the most popular. Drill down for more details or to see trends for specific payment types, by site, and most importantly, trends over time.
