Promoting Your Menu on Lightspeed Ordering

Now that your menu is online, you are ready to take the next and arguably most important step.

Letting Your Customers Know!

When you serve face to face, it's so easy to pick up on your customers' body language and anticipate what they need. With online orders, you're not there to help them, so it’s crucial that you minimise friction at every step of the way to keep your customers' experience short and sweet.

In this guide, we're going to show you how you can deliver the best experience to your customers. This includes creating a website, promoting your menu on Lightspeed Ordering and letting them share it quickly with their friends and family.

What's In This Guide?

Before You Begin

Please make sure you have completed the following:

  • Created a Lightspeed Account.
  • Setup your menu in Lightspeed.
  • Signed up to Lightspeed Ordering.
  • Configured your products.
  • Tested your menu's layout.

Website First, App Later

With Lightspeed Ordering, your customers can place orders for Pickup & Delivery from a website or an App. Whilst it is great to be able to offer both, we recommend starting with the website.

Your customers will be able to place orders via a link on the website and they won’t have to download another app. This makes it so much easier for customers to make orders. After they get comfortable with placing orders, they will then be more likely to download another app.

Ideally, your customer will be able to place an order with just 4 steps:

  1. Find your menu.
  2. Add items to a pickup or delivery.
  3. Create an account or sign in.
  4. Pay for an order.

Letting Your Customers Know

Now that you have Lightspeed Ordering ready to go, receiving pickups and deliveries will be a breeze!

The hard part now is letting your customers know how they can order, what they can order and why they should order.

To get started, here are a few ways to get those orders coming in.

Add Your Menu Link to Your Website

Embed Lightspeed Ordering's "Order Online" button on your website . To do this, you need to complete the following steps:

1. Login to Lightspeed Ordering's Venue Manager

2. On the left, look for “Your Unique Menu Link”.

3. Click "Add this button to your website" and paste this code into your website:

You should also embed this button for each venue.

Add Your Menu Link to Your Google Business Listing

Google. Everyone’s default. Anytime there's a question, Google has an answer. So, if you haven’t already, definitely update your Google Listing because that’s your biggest and loudest digital ‘OPEN’ sign. Update your website’s url with your Unique Menu Link and your opening hours if they have been adjusted.

If you need help updating your Google My Business account, there's a support guide.

This is tech talk, and how spaces and punctuation are recognised by the internet.

Google Chrome will format the product name for you if you simply type it, including any spaces, into the address bar and hit enter (you can then copy the formatted URL after the page is loaded).

You can also use a tool like to format the product name for you.

Ready to Go Images

Much like the captions & tag lines, the creatives that accompany your copy need to be eye-catching. And what could be possibly more appealing than photos of food?

It’s always encouraged to use your own photographs but that’s not always an easy task. Capturing the right angle and lighting takes experience and time. Here's some websites that offer royalty-free photos to help you get started.
