How to complete Tyro payments that fail to confirm in Kounta?

The Tyro payment Integrations works by communicating with Lightspeed to receive the sale amount and show the amount to be processed on the payment terminal and to complete sales in Lightspeed without any manual input required by the customer.

What causes some sales to remain open on Lightspeed Kounta POS?

The Tyro payment integrations works by processing the transaction in a series of steps that happen behind the scenes.

 

Sale is entered into Lightspeed POS

The Integrated Payment button is selected to send the amount to the payment terminal.

When this happens: Lightspeed Kounta POS will contact Tyro's servers and let them know the payment amount.

The sale amount appears on the payment terminal ready for the customer to process.

Take payments with Tyro – Timely

The customer will complete the payment and 'Approved' will show on the payment terminal.

When this happens: Tyro will send the confirmation that the transaction has been approved and Lightspeed will close the sale as paid on that payment method.

Refunding surcharges with Tyro on your iPad – Lightspeed Retail

The entire transaction process from Lightspeed to the Integrated Payment terminal and then back to Lightspeed is 15 seconds, if your network were to drop off during this time the transaction would remain open in Lightspeed.

What should we do when this happens?

Transaction timed out

If you have a transaction that fails to close in Lightspeed Kounta, you will see the below prompt.

This means that a network issue interrupted the transaction process from auto-completing the sale in Kounta, the good news is that Tyro has already communicated with Kounta in the back end and let us know the TransactionID and that the transaction was Approved.

Retrying the payment

If your POS is now online (you will know this if you can't see the red wifi symbol) you can select Retry to do a checkup of the transaction. If this is successful you will see a success prompt and the sale will close.

What if my POS is still offline?

If your POS is still offline you can select QUIT to bring you back to the sale screen.

From here you can press Send to hold the sale until you are back online, when you are ready to close the sale hit Checkout.

As Kounta has a record that this TransactionID for this amount was already processed, you can just select Checkout > Tyro

This will do a checkup of the status transaction and because we will have the record of that transaction being processed already, we will return an immediate success message and close the sale.
