Personal information requirements for Lightspeed Payments

In compliance with local and international regulations, it is necessary to provide details about yourself and your business. This information is gathered to identify merchants using Lightspeed Payments, including the beneficial owners of a specific corporate entity. The collection of this information aims to meet regulatory requirements intended to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes.

As local regulations change, Lightspeed and its partners may reach out to request further information about you and your business. These routine reviews can take place at any time during the life of your Lightspeed Payments account.

The information that Lightspeed must collect includes, but is not limited to, details about the following:

  • the individual creating the Lightspeed Payments account
  • the business / entity associated with the Lightspeed Payments account
  • the individuals who ultimately control or own the business. This may include owners and/or senior executives with the authority to legally bind the business to an agreement.

We may request documentation during the verification process. Acceptable document types include:

Identity documents:

  • Passport
  • Driver license or other photo identity card (images of both front and back)

Proof of Address documents:

  • Driver license or other photo identity card (images of both front and back)
  • Medicare document (government health insurance document)
  • Centrelink document (Government pension document)
  • Australian Taxation Office letter or assessment
  • Council rates or land valuation notice

Company/entity documents:

  • Australian Business Number confirmation (Certificate of Registration)
  • Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) Record of Registration (Certificate of Registration)
  • Australian Business Register extract
  • Certificate of Registration of Change of Name
  • Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Extract

Please ensure that your documentation:

  • is clear and legible
  • is valid and accurate
  • is up-to-date
  • is complete with all details visible
  • is free of any errors
  • matches the information provided
